Place On Wheel is most successful train, it operates in co-ordination with the Rajasthan Goverment to promote tourism in Rajashthan, having steam locomotive, operates on the Golden tringle route (Delhi, Jaipur, Agra). Train departs from New Delhi, travels around Rajasthan with stops in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Agra. it is a eight day journey, due to its huge success, several other trains are being operated in other part of the country to pramote tourism. The train service was refurbished and relaunched in August 2009 with a new decor, itinerary and cuisine. The Train Holidays in India is very popular with place on wheel.

As of now, the Fairy Queen is the oldest operating locomotive (built in 1855) in the world with capacity of thirty-eight passengers. locomotive was certified by the Guinness Book of Records to be the oldest operational locomotive when Rajasthan government invoked it in 2004 to boost tourism in the area, operates between Delhi and Alwar, two-day journey start form New Delhi, Alwar to the Sariska Tiger Reserve .

The Deccan Odyssey is a special luxury train to boost tourism on the Konkan route of the Indian Railways. Maharashtra Goverment introduced Deccan Odyssey train to promote to Tourism after seeing the huge success of the place on wheels. The train originates from Mumbai and travels to Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ajanta-Ellora and back to Mumbai. It has all facilities to compete the five star hotel.

The Golden Chariot is operated by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation to promote the tourism in Karnataka, it offers complete 7days and 8 nite tour form Banglore to Goa, start from the Banglore with visit to Nagarhole National Park, Mysore Palace, Srirangapatna forts, Hoysaleswara Temple, Gomateshwara and the Badami Cave Templescome and come back to Banglore via Goa, the improtant destinations on the route are Bangalore, Kabini, Mysore, Hassan, Hospet, Badami and Goa. The Golden Chariot will also offer an extended two week tour subjective to the schedule, will cover Coimbatore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Trivandrum, and Kochi.
