Tourist places in Varanasi
Varanasi is also known as Kasi and Banaras. Varanasi situated on the bank of River Gangs is one of the oldest inhabited cities of the world famous for Lord Shiva . Mark Twain says: “Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together”. Apart from Hinduism Varansi also have equal importance for Buddhism and Jainism. The city is a center of learning and civilization for over 3000 years With Sarnath, the place where Buddha preached his first sermon after enlightenment, just 10 km away from Varanasi, it is also pilgrimage place for Jains, Varanasi is believed to be the birthplace of Parsvanath, the twenty-third Tirthankar.
Varanasi is well connected to the cities of India by Rail, Road and Air. Thousands of People come here everyday to visit famous Lord Shiva temple, Ganga Ghats (100 Ghats) and Sarnath. The other tourist places in varansi are Jantar Mantar, Archaeological museum, Bharat Kala Bhavan, Ramnagar Fort etc.
