The Thar Desert
The Thar Desert is located in the state of Rajasthan in Western India. It is also known as The Great Indian Desert and this desert is spread over to South Eastern Pakistan. It lies mostly in the Indian State of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state. The Thar Desert is divided into three regions: Sand Covered Thar, Plains and Hills.
The Thar Desert is also famous as the most colorful desert in the world making Rajasthan the number one destination in India for tourism. The only river that crosses these sands is the Luni, which joins the Arabian Sea through the Rann of Kutch. In 1996, discoveries made by paleontologists indicated that dinosaurs and their ancestors stalked the desert as long back as 300 million years.
Desert Circuit is the combination of three main cities Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur in Rajasthan and they entangled in such a way that they form an excellent desert circuit. Desert Safari is considered the best way to explore Thar Desert. Desert Safari can be divided into two: Jeep Safari and Camel Safari.
